Britain Nigeria Business Council.

Who we are

Established 1977, the primary aim of the Council is to promote business and investment between the United Kingdom and Nigeria. In addition to the active support of the British and Nigerian Governments, it is also supported by major banking institutions in both countries as well as major multinational corporations with African and especially Nigerian interests. It maintains regular contact in London with the West Africa Business Association and in Nigeria with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, the Nigerian Economic Investment Promotion Commission, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce, the major regional Chambers of Commerce and Government Ministers. The council issues a monthly business briefing to its members covering on-going developments affecting Nigerian business and economics.

It holds regular seminars in London at which distinguished speakers cover on-going developments in Nigerian trade, industry, banking, economics, budgetary developments, regulatory issues and all matters of potential interest to foreign investors.

At seminars and social functions it offers significant opportunities for networking to those interested in business and investment opportunities in Nigeria.

What the BNBC does

• Organises seminars and workshops on topical issues, such as trading and investment opportunities, shipping matters, inspection procedures, aid programs and World Bank projects, all of which members can attend at preferential rates.

• Offers assistance to inward and outward trade missions and advises members who plan to travel independently to Nigeria.

• Publishes a confidential monthly news report giving market intelligence about Nigeria. Members can advertise free of charge on an occasional basis.

• Speaks for its members formally and informally to government departments and trade organisations in Britain and Nigeria.

• Provides a forum for members to share their expertise and to co-operate in generating trade and investment opportunities.
